EuroPerio10: Dates for world’s leading periodontics and implant dentistry congress announced
BRUSSELS, Belgium: The European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) has announced that the tenth edition of its triennial congress, EuroPerio, will be held from 15 to 18 June 2022 at the Bella Center Copenhagen in Denmark. In light of the progression of the global SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and in order to facilitate a successful meeting, the EFP had decided to postpone the event by one year in autumn last year already.
“The health and safety of everyone involved are most essential to us―obviously at the congress itself, but also after delegates have returned home to their families or to work. We sincerely hope for COVID-19 to flatten out, for an increasing vaccination coverage rate during 2021, and consequently for a safe and successful EuroPerio10 in 2022, for everyone involved,” Prof. Phoebus Madianos, chair of EuroPerio10, told Dental Tribune International.
The organisers furthermore announced the launch of the EuroPerio Series, a series of interactive online educational sessions based on contents of previous congresses paired with new topics in the field, on 5 June. Leading up to the congress, a second series will follow, airing every second Monday of each month from 13 September until 11 March 2022. “With these online sessions, we are taking virtual education a step further to bring the world of EuroPerio directly to our community all over the globe,” Madianos explained.
“Virtual education and the chance to organise meetings online is a valuable extension that will stay a vital part of future ongoing education. However, nothing can ever substitute the unique atmosphere of in-person events. My team and I will therefore do our utmost to bring EuroPerio10 in June 2022 to Copenhagen not only for the EFP but also for our global perio community,” he concluded.
First held in Paris in France in 1994, EuroPerio is one of the most important and largest educational events for dental professionals specialising in periodontics and implant dentistry. In 2018, EuroPerio in Amsterdam in the Netherlands attracted a record-breaking 10,232 periodontists, dentists in other specialties, dental students and dental hygienists, as well as other dental professionals, from 111 countries, making the edition the most well attended so far.
The programme for EuroPerio10 will feature more than 120 experts from around the globe. Online registration for the congress will start in April 2021.
