Webinar to focus on alternatives in periodontal maintenance
ZURICH, Switzerland: In an upcoming free webinar on Thursday, 30 May, an expert will be discussing minimally invasive alternatives to traditional debridement and periodontal maintenance. Webinar host Sally Simpson hopes to offer insights into changing the way patients are managed by introducing new concepts that are part of the ongoing development of dentistry.
With new research and development in dentistry continually emerging, Simpson believes it is the responsibility of dental professionals to review the new developments and decide if they are appropriate for day-to-day practice and a better choice than the more traditional concepts.
With guided biofilm therapy proving to be a minimally invasive, evidence-based alternative to more traditional ways of providing intervention for debridement and periodontal maintenance, the webinar will aim at assisting clinicians in understanding the concept, adapting it into their practice and introducing it to relevant patients. The webinar will also identify how the treatment can have a positive effect on practice building and turnover.
Simpson trained as a dental hygienist at King’s College London, and in 2002, gained the Royal College of Surgeons Diploma in Dental Therapy at the University of Manchester. She has worked in NHS Community Clinics and general and specialist practice as a clinical dental hygienist and therapist, as well as lectured throughout the UK and Europe. A member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), Simpson has served the BSDHT as regional honorary treasurer, chair, regional representative on the national council, executive committee member, director and president-elect, and she was president between 2010 and 2012.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “A minimally invasive alternative to traditional debridement and periodontal maintenance”, will be broadcast live on Thursday, 30 May, at 7 p.m. CET. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website.
